GIZMO GABS IS BACK!!!!!!! - 2024 Chicago Marathon Training Status: FULL FORCE!!



 

Hello Everyone!!!


Giz is baaaack!!!! and so is Gizmo Gabs! I had to think about whether I even had to time to blog this year's marathon training, but then I realized how therapeutic it had been in the past. Also, I felt like I couldn't deprive all of you of my dark, uncanny humor that arises as the madness of training ensues. I have gotten feedback and questions about training and nutrition from others that are running and those that are thinking about running, and I thought I should just share the wealth of knowledge that I have.


For those of you that are new to my blogging, I have an honest truth to my writing. I don't sugar coat the bad weeks/runs, and I do celebrate and pride myself on the good weeks/runs. I share what I know and experience and I never claim to be an expert. I don't dodge on others and their process and I won't tolerate the same on to me. We all have our own journeys to the finish line and this is mine. Please respect it, celebrate it with me and be supportive and lift me up when I find myself in a lull. If you just want to read, by all means....JUST DON'T BE MEAN.


Oh! You newbies might be wondering why Gizmo? Because I am small, mighty, fearless, relentless, a little mischievous, funny and well I just don't go away...something I learned about myself since I started my fitness journey in 2014. Since then I have run 4 previous Chicago Marathons in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020. I have one half marathon and a dozen 5ks, a 10k and a couple 15k races in the mix.


Now, back to the blog, I will start blogging about this week (#6, 10 miler) on Monday and will post every Tuesday morning. So get ready for Week #6 on Tuesday, August, 20th! I can't wait to share my journey with you and find that finish line! Take Care,
